A fond farewell

Before this day is over I feel I need to say a few words about our 43rd President.
President Bush you have served this country through very difficult times with much at stake. You have faced a media and entertainment industry that has been very unfair to you. I don’t know if another President has ever received the kind of untruths, innuendos, accusations you have . But inspite of it all, you have seen the task at hand and faced it head on with grace, honor, principle, and conviction. You have foregone the easy popular choice to do what was necessary to keep our country safe. For that all Americans owe you a debt of gratitude. Those who appose you can do so because you have put our freedoms and safety first. In the weeks, months, and years ahead, I hope it will be made known what you have accomplished in your time in office…for our safety, the environment, Africa, tax relief, the strength of our military and more. I know you are human and have made choices that you might not make if you had to do it over, but I believe you did so with our country’s interest in mind not yours. You brought with you to the White House a wonderful First Lady who, also, has served this country with honor and dignity. She has been the epitome of class, grace, and compassion. Our prayers go with you both as you leave this job and may God guide you in all you do in coming years. From the bottom of my heart, thank you both for your service. We salute you!
To our new President Obama, I pray God gives you wisdom in these difficult times. This country has much to celebrate as history is being made today and we should all be proud. If you serve with the same principles and honor as your predecessor, you will do well. There is much at stake for our country right now and I pray for your decisions and wish you the best. You serve a great nation! May God watch over you and your lovely family as you embark on the task at hand.

Thanks for the commentary on our president. Weather you agree or disagree with his actions I believe he deserves our respect. I hope history will show he served to keep America safe as his main objective.

This was a lovely heartfelt post, Marcie! Kudos to you for doing it. As Lillie said, whether or not one agrees, a president deserves our respect. In taking a job few would, considering the risks involved both personally and physically, it requires a special individual. It’s not an easy task or they wouldn’t age so quickly as photos evidate. I’m proud to be American yesterday, today and tomorrow!!!

Thank you for this beautiful post that said so much that has been on my mind. President Bush also defended Life in all its innocence. Tomorrow is the 36th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, and although I cannot be in Washington, D.C. to show my support for the sanctity of life, I will pray here at home that all the good that President Bush accomplished toward ending abortion and supporting pro-life measures will not be turned back. Thank you President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush for your dignity, class and ability to “turn the other cheek” when so many in the media and Hollywood were so cruel and unfair. And thank you Marcie for writing this post. Brenda

I’m new to your blog and while perusing I ran across this beautiful tribute to our previous president. You were brave to do this for it is unpopular on many blogs and the heat can get mighty hot. I do want you to know that I stand shoulder to shoulder with you and voice the same sentiments.
