This is our gift to the Junk Sistas Raffle for our (I think we all think she belongs to us!) own little Texas Bella. You need to go buy Raffle Tickets at the above link and if you’re quick you can still donate a prize. The donation has to be in by today. Tickets go on sale May 1st.

Since many of the things Mayron and I sell weigh a ton or are too large, we decided to purchase items from a friend’s shop for our donation. All these really really cool things come from The Funky Monkey. The owner, Amy, is a friend of ours and has wonderful “stuff”, so you really want to buy a ticket and win these fab, funky items.

raffle prize bella

That’s a large chunky acrylic star on a silver chain. The bracelet is a slip on that looks like mercury glass(and we all love mercury glass). The little rhinestone piece is a small tape measure for all the “junkin” sistas out there. You have to be prepared. And last but not least is a pink with black trim leather case for your business cards or credit cards or favorite photos. If you win it, you can decide!

I’m not very good at changing my blog info (on the sidebar).  So, this isn’t going to be posted there as everyone has done. Sorry!

But, please go to the Junk Sistas blog and get all the details on helping our tiny Texas Bella. She is a precious gift from God to Debbie and Danny (grandparents) and their daughter Jenn and her husband. As you can see from the pic, she is so small, BUT gaining. Read the touching story on Debbie’s blog Talking Trash. It’ll bring tears to your eyes and joy to your heart how God has worked in this family’s life.

All the details of the fundraiser are on Junk Sistas.

We’re rootin’ for you Bella!!!

Okay, the Junk Sistas picture has disappeared since I put it on here last nite. I have no idea why or what to do. You can still log onto the site by the link above.

First, I am sorry it’s been so long since I have posted. It’s been a crazy week and it’s not over yet. This week we are busy getting ready to do a wedding reception. There have already been some “flower glitches” and, of course, we are supposed to have rain all week. Not complaining, tho, as we need the rain!

Now these are the last pictures I took at Warrenton/RoundTop. I thought I’d save the best for last!!  You all that have never been here just need to see what is available at this huge show! You can’t find this stuff at your run of the mill antique show!! To be honest, tho, who would think there is a market for it?? Well, apparently someone as these pics are proof it was there.

Here is some of the craziness….

First this wacky cute couple……..

heidi and chapman

Meet Heidi and Chapman from Ardmore, OK. Heidi has a store off I35 in Ardmore called The Cloverleaf. AND this is what they bought….

heidi's car

Everyone needs giant chickens on the front end of their car with a huge sombrero topping it off.

heidi's car front

And, of course, some good ole Texas longhorns and not sure who that is keeping that steer company?!

Now, according to Heidi this car runs just fine. But am not sure if they drove it back to OK. or towed it. Don’t you think it’s the perfect vehicle to go out to lunch in ladies? I’m sure Heidi would come pick us up! BTW, I’m not sure this isn’t more Heidi’s decision and Chapman was just along for the ride! (no pun intended).

If you are ever anywhere near Ardmore, OK you need to look up and stop in The Cloverleaf. Heidi sells really cool stuff, but this is an indication of what to expect in the decor department!

This picture below was seen at the Marburger show.

crocodile

This crocodile is at least 4-5ft. long. As you can see it is made up of a bezillon little sticks. Somebody has a lot of time on their hands! :)   Actually, they did an amazing job. Hmm! how about it on a large harvest table with green moss under it and small potted palms. Maybe a mannequin foot sticking out of the mouth with a lone crocodile shoe laying off to side! It would definitely start the conversation going at your dinner party!

Not sure if it sold, but as you can see no telling what you can find at a Texas Antique Show!!!

We thought you might like to go on a little trip with us. Let’s see what interesting things have come from all over this big old world. So pack your walking shoes, here we go.

First we are off to Mexico.

lg mexican stone pots    mexican stone mantel

stonework

These are 2 old stone pots and an old stone mantel brought here from deep in Mexico. These are not concrete.

crated wine bottle        wine bottle label

large wine bottle

We are leaving this continent and crossing the “great pond” to the wine country of France. Note the cool label and imprint on the crate.

lg iron cross

old iron cross

Let’s head across the channel to England. A friend of ours who used to take shopping trips to England on a regular basis told us she used to buy these old crosses for clients quite regularly. She said now she wishes she had saved one for herself as the price has risen dramatically.

roman spears

now where are those roman soldiers?

Now we are entering the vast Roman Empire! Well, this might be a bit of a stretch. :) After our trip to Warrenton, my husband was passing through the living room one day and asked me if we were arming the Roman army! Actually they are ceremonial spears used in lodges such as the Masonic Temple. Strange part about this is these were sitting in my living room for a week before my DH even noticed they were there!! Hmmm!

african carving

african carving

Now we are crossing the Mediterranean, and heading into Africa. This is a mask carved probably in the 1950’s. Very interesting!

white jars turkey

lots of old jars

Heading north east we cross the Aegean Sea. All these wonderful old jars came from the coastal region of Turkey. We love that they are all different sizes and shapes. We plan on using some of them for a wedding reception we are doing in early May….filled with blue hydrangea!

turkish bath sink

marble sink, anyone?

Still in Turkey, this marble sink came from a Turkish bath. I would love to put this in my powder room with a great iron base, but, alas, we will probably use it to serve out of for some function we are doing! It does have an interesting little story behind our purchasing of it, though. The gentleman we bought it from told us it was quite heavy. He said he’d knock 30% off the price if we could pick it up!! Well, you don’t lay out a challenge to a couple of “old” grandmas that are used to hauling around concrete urns and statues!! I looked at Mayron and bent down and picked it up. He was a bit surprised, but we got the 30% off!

japanese pics 3

japanese prints

Off we go across most of Asia to the country of Japan. These prints were purchased in Japan in 1923 by my husband’s grandparents on a trip over there. His grandma signed and dated the back of them. Since these are a family heirloom, I guess they are not for sale, but they are very nice old pieces.

Well, here we are back in the good old USA! Hope you enjoyed our little tour and it doesn’t cause you to suffer too much jet lag.

Spring is in the air. The grass is turning green. Seeds are busting out of their hard shells. The small green bundles on once bare branched trees are unfolding into leaves. Green shoots have pushed their way up through the still cool earth to soon reveal beautiful tulips or daffodils. Baby lambs are wobbling around on unstable legs. Signs of new life are every where. What an appropriate time to celebrate Easter! Mortality was exchanged for immortality. People around the world rejoice.

Lanny and Lonny have been selling at Warrenton for many years and they’ve built a huge following. They are a super nice couple who do an unbelievable job of finding some of the most incredible merchandise you can imagine! They have set up in Mark’s field, “Excess”, for the past several yrs. You would NOT believe the size of the pieces they bring unless you saw it person. I have no idea how they load, transport, and unload this stuff! Lonny is a good size man, but Lanny is a tiny little gal. But, they manage and, wow,is it great. Again, my pics don’t do it justice, but hope you can get a feel for their things a little. They are permanently set up at the “White Elephant” in the design district in Dallas, Tx. It is located at 1026 N. Industrial Blvd. The phone # is 214 871-7966. If you are in that area, stop in and say hi and take a look for yourself at their great stuff!

lanny loonng black cabinet orange urn

That cabinet with the bottles must be 100ft. long…..well maybe I’m exaggerating, but I bet it was close to 20-30ft. My wide angle wasn’t that WIDE! It was an amazing piece.

That orange concrete urn is pretty alright itself. A friend of ours wanted it really bad, but note the “sold” tag.

lanny seafan

This is a lovely display. The seafans are beautiful!

Don’t forget…

We will give away a cool set of those words (maybe two) from Sweet Talk  by Wednesday morning. Anyone that posts a comment between now and midnight (CDT) Tuesday April 14th will have their name in the hat and if you mention this on your blog we will enter you again. And if someone mentions you told them about it, you’ll add another chance to WIN. Hope you’ll join us to help kick off Janet’s new business.

I talked to Janet this afternoon and they have been having some trouble getting on the site online (TalkSweetTalk.com). Hopefully that will be remedied by tomorrow. I know you all have been trying, so don’t give up. I’ll keep you updated if it doesn’t come on line tomorrow. We’ll just push out the chance to win the card sets until a little later. Thanks for your patience!
