Last week, before my grandkids descended en masse, I visited our friend Portia from Garden Party. We had a very pleasant afternoon visiting and catching up and, of course, solving the world’s problems! You notice how much smoother things are running this week around the world!!! :)

We have visited Portia before on this blog. We have known her for years and have had lots of fun times together. We do shop back and forth with each other, although, most the time we shop with her before an upcoming show at my house. Well, I went to shop with her, but we don’t have a show date yet, so don’t want to get any one too excited about a date. Portia has a very unique style and an “out of the ordinary” way of decorating. Since she sells out of her home, I am including her e-mail in case you want to get in touch with her about anything you see in the pics. But just a reminder…..she will be at the Warrenton/Round Top show with most the rest of Texas and parts beyond. If you don’t hear from her right away that is why. She will probably be back home by Thursday of next week. You can contact her at portia@tx.rr.com.

Tomorrow morning Mayron and I are leaving for the “BIG” show. Can’t wait to see everyone and see what treasures we can find. We’ll be taking lots of pics, so will share the fun with you all when we get back Tuesday nite….well maybe not until Wednesday.

Happy Trails!

Everyone for miles around Texas and actually all over the USA will be coming to south central Texas in the next week or so. Since not everyone one can make it to this great Warrenton/Round Top sale, I thought I’d post some pics from the surrounding area  of homes in the Texas Hill country. Round Top and Warrenton are located between San Antonio, Austin, and Houston. The countryside is beautiful with rolling green hills (in the spring) and fields full of breath taking wild flowers. The state flower is the bluebonnet and they cover the roadsides and pastures like gorgeous blue carpet.  One of the smallest towns in Texas, Round Top, population 77, and surrounding area boasts one of the largest antique shows in the country every fall and spring. If you can only make it to this event once, it should be your goal. It is an amazing phenomenon!!

These are pics of houses in the hill country. Limestone is plentiful, thus all the wonderful rock work.  Have fun visiting Texas!

I’ve taken some more photos in the living room and dining room. It’s still being moved around and rearranged as more things come in. I’ll post pics, though, of how it is coming together for now at least.  The wood fireplace mantel I am hoping to totally change out in the not too distant future. I have a pretty good idea of what I want to do……now if I can just get my dear husband going on the project!! Mayron and I have slowly but surely been finding some nice things. Not all of it is ready to come in the house yet. We have wiring projects, painting projects, upholstery projects, and so on. :) We’re working on it, tho.

As I said, I am putting up some more photos Mayron took at JRNE, the mall in Terrell.

Also, I wanted to mention the Dolly Johnson show in Ft. Worth today. I apologize for no pics. My camera battery went dead! Not good timing. But, I visited Christine  who is in Found in the design district in Dallas. She was set up with Vicki from Homepieces in McKinney. They’re booth looked great. Lots and lots of really nice things. Melonie from Seedbox Antiques was, also, showing there. As usual she had a great display and unique merchandise. Wish I’d had pics for you.

Mayron and I are in a mall called JRNE (pronounced journey) in Terrell. We use this as a kind of clearing house. That’s where stuff goes that doesn’t quite go in the house any more, or we are ready to move it on. Sometimes we’ll put stuff in there that we aren’t quite ready to place in the house, but most of the time it is the former.  Since Mayron lives closer to the mall, she is the one who does almost all the work in there. Once in awhile when I’m in Terrell, I’ll help move a couple items. But 99.9% of all work and care there is Mayron’s doing. She, also, is a tremendous help to the owner moving stuff around, giving advice, and helping with the decorating duties. It keeps her busy and taking advil for a sore back!! Needless to say, I am very grateful and thankful for all that she does there….it’s ALOT! They have been resetting the mall for several days now, so Mayron took some pics in there. Thought I’d share them with you all, as I don’t believe we’ve ever posted anything from there. She’s come up with some really cute ideas, so hope you enjoy perusing the mall with us!

And just in case you thought I got off easy (which I probably did), I was taking chairs to have slipcovered for a job we are doing. And we are involved in another wedding, so there was a meeting today with the bride and mother at the reception location.

More pics from the mall will be coming tomorrow. Goodnite!

I love both these sideboards. They are very simple lines. Just think of the possibilities that you could do on top of them and behind them on the wall. I think I’d try to use something BIG for the wall. We have some wonderful old large metal windows, or a crusty large old gate, or some funky metal panels from some metal shop or ?, or even a huge fan off a windmill. Then probably several large items on top including a good lamp….tall, I think. Or this very large metal container pictured below would work on here with maybe a faux bois low planter beside it filled with something really cool! Shamrocks for St Patrick’s Day, a bunch of natural sea sponges, old tiled mirrored balls, and the list goes on. If you didn’t do something you could use a lamp with, I’d hang a good crystal chandelier or maybe a crusty white and gray Italian metal one down over one side. What do you think? Doesn’t it make you just want to play with it?

If you are from around these parts, you already know that Texas weather can change in the blink of an eye.  It keeps things interesting. You are either sweating profusely or trying to break through the ice to get your car door open or watching your trampoline lift off, smash up against your potting shed due to winds you aren’t sure are straightline or tornadic or it’s so dry all the ducks in ponds are looking at the dog’s water bowl for a swim, or there is so much water that the grandkids and friends are paddling around in makeshift boats in the front yard and there is actually a current that sweeps your daughter’s wiener dog under the road in the drainage pipe (he was rescued by her father). No dogs were harmed in the writing of this post!

Now some of you in the DFW area might think what you are seeing in these pictures is a little extreme even for Texas since it was 84 degrees today. No a “northerner” didn’t come in today. These photos were taken a yr ago today by Mayron. We were supposed to be having a show at my house…..obviously that didn’t work out since you couldn’t even get out of my driveway. Although, it didn’t work out for the show it was beautiful. Mayron had never seen so much snow, so if you notice there are no marks of any kind in it. I suggested we go out and have a snowball fight and make snow angels (mayron, my daughter and me), but Mayron wouldn’t let us mess up the snow!!!

Anyway, that was then and now it’s HOT!

If you look closely in some of the photos, you can see the snowflakes coming down. They were HUGE!

And for all you northerners who are sick of snow and cold, this is for you!

Have a great day whether you are WARM or COLD!!

As we are moving stuff around at the house, I thought I’d take a couple pictures. We’ve had more shoppers here, so nothing ever stays the same. Plus we are bringing in some more merchandise. We had a fairly successful buying trip to Canton. We did enjoy spending some time with  Judy of J Hill Designs. Her booth looked fabulous. She is doing some really great linens. Also, got to sit and talk a bit with Peg of French Vanilla (her spot outside mostly cleaned out) and  Melonie of Seedbox Antiques (in the civic center with great stuff as usual).  We did run into some other friends and bloggers who were there to shop. Hope all were successful.

We, also, talked  to Lillie of  Junk  Palace briefly and her granddaughter is still in the hospital, so remember to keep her in your prayers. And, of course, we need to remember Debbie of Talking Trash and her daughter and baby and family, also.

Now the pictures:

I didn’t bring my camera onto the grounds at Canton, because I didn’t want to carry my purse around.  :(   It gets heavy! So, sorry there are no pics from there.
