Here we go again. Another ice storm blew through North Texas yesterday and last night. Woke up this morning to beautiful crystally sunny weather. It was quite pretty outside, so I grabbed the camera and ran out to take a few pics. Just not as impressive here, but am sharing them anyway.  I needed a break from painting my bathroom! There is probably about 1/4-1/2 inch of ice on stuff. Fortunately, I don’t think it has caused any damage….at least here.

Well, keep warm! Will try to get back to the old stuff and decorating now.

These blogging ladies are fast!! They are fast with their little fingers clicking away on their cameras AND extremely fast at posting their pics and news. By the time I got home (and to be fair I don’t live close to Malakoff) pictures were already posted on blogs. So, you are getting old news here and repeated pictures, so I am not posting many. I’m not even sure my pics are much different than ones you’ve seen. But, I do want to give our take on Lillie’s opening of Junk Palace…….A HUGE SUCCESS!!! We want to congratulate her on a job well done. The displays were creative and interesting, lovely and appealing. We love what we bought there. And it looked like the “ticket writer” was busy. Congratulations on your endeavor, Lillie, and the m&m’s wish you much success.

Now to post our couple photos:

Loved this set up, but couldn’t do it justice with my camera.

table setting lillie's

This wasn’t your usual “set” table either. I loved how the roll of paper was pulled out and scrunched around through everything. Great!

We, also, enjoyed visiting Donna’s shop ” Curious Goods”. She has a wonderful store with lots of fab merchandise. It was the first time we have met her in person. Take our word for it…..a very nice lady.

This is hard to see, but Donna had this old chain she shaped into an interesting art piece!

All of our other pics are repeats of what you will see on other blogs.

It was a treat getting to meet some of these blogging gals. I think maybe there was one on two we didn’t meet, but next time. Also, it was great running into other friends that came out for the opening. It was a cold day, but no one seemed to mind with all the chatter going on, wallets getting opened, cameras clicking, oohs and aahs. Fun day Lillie. Thanks!

Mayron and I  visited a new store today in McKinney. We had an appointment in town, so that gave us the opportunity to check out the Square and visit with some friends. It was the first opportunity we had to visit this new store since it opened a few weeks ago or so. The very appropriate name of the store is “Smitten“. And, we think if you visit there you will be. There are 7 ladies that are part of this lovely establishment. They are (in no particular order) Kaci, Luanne, Angie, Elizabeth, Barbara, Cheryl, and the owner Karen. You have actually met Elizabeth here on our post from Marburger. She does the fabulous shell art. All these ladies have their own unique style and when put together it makes for a beautiful set up. We have known Karen for several yrs. as we used to be in her previous shop. Karen always has wonderful beds and bedding. But don’t just take our word for it go check them out.

Here’s the “getting there” info:

Smitten….118 E. Louisiana Ave. McKinney, Tx, 972 529-6994

I will post half of the pics now and half tomorrow. You all can guess who’s stuff is whose.

Before this day is over I feel I need to say a few words about our 43rd President.

President Bush you have served this country through very difficult times with much at stake. You have faced a media and entertainment industry that has been very unfair to you. I don’t know if another President has ever received the kind of untruths, innuendos, accusations you have . But inspite of it all, you have seen the task at hand and faced it head on with grace, honor, principle, and conviction. You have foregone the easy popular choice to do what was necessary to keep our country safe. For that all Americans owe you a debt of gratitude. Those who appose you can do so because you have put our freedoms and safety first. In the weeks, months, and years ahead, I hope it will be made known what you have accomplished in your time in office…for our safety, the environment, Africa, tax relief, the strength of our military and more. I know you are human and have made choices that you might not make if you had to do it over, but I believe you did so with our country’s interest in mind not yours. You brought with you to the White House a wonderful First Lady who, also, has served this country with honor and dignity. She has been the epitome of class, grace, and compassion. Our prayers go with you both as you leave this job and may God guide you in all you do in coming years. From the bottom of my heart, thank you both for your service. We salute you!

To our new President Obama, I pray God gives you wisdom in these difficult times. This country has much to celebrate as history is being made today and we should all be proud. If you serve with the same principles and honor as your predecessor, you will do well. There is much at stake for our country right now and I pray for your decisions and wish you the best. You serve a great nation! May God watch over you and your lovely family as you embark on the task at hand.

Before I get into the pics I’m about to post, you all need to check out our friend Debbie’s at Talking Trash, if you already haven’t been by there. She has a really fun contest going on right now. Of all things, it has something to do with “canned ham”?!! Head over there for a look and tell her we sent you.

This next group of pics are just something I shot around the house of those little items that fill containers. Thought you might get a kick out of seeing some of the not so usual things.

Mayron and her husband have been at the horse races this weekend. Can’t wait to hear if “we” won. They went up to Arkansas. Hope they didn’t freeze up there!

Bless your little self (but big heart), Mindy for awarding us with the Honest Scrap award. We will try to get the job done by next week. To be honest I’m not sure I remember 10 “honest” things about myself! BUT, fortunately that’s only one of the many good things about having a business partner/friend. Mayron gets to remember 5 of those 10 things…..not about me, of course, but her. Thanks again, Mindy.

Thought I’d just throw in a couple pics of some porch pieces we used in my loft.

BTW, thought I would make it down to the Red Barn Sale this  weekend, but something came up. We do want to wish all those folks we know down there setting up, the best of shows. Hope they come home empty! (unless they bought goodies down there).

Great black iron framed beveled mirror. The size is 27 3/4″ x 20 1/2″. The mirroring is quite good on it (meaning, messed up). This is an unusual piece.
